TGCC will be having its annual Banquet and you are invited! Congratulations to Captain Randy Widaman for being elected the Texas Gulf Coast Council of Dive Clubs ‘Diver of the Year’ Information regarding the TGCC banquet. The format will be quite different this year. Read on............ HUPS has already sold 20 tickets and Chum has sold to almost all their members and HUC is selling out. So I would love to see a good turn out from BAD. For just $10, that is a bargain so let's all show up and support the Council and watch Christi receive her Diver of the Year Award in front of a couple hundred other fellow divers. * The Banquet is a luncheon * It's Saturday, January 31, 2009. * At Bayland Community Center - 6400 Bissonnet, near Hillcroft. * Social starts at 11:00 AM; lunch around 11:45 AM; awards ceremony towards the end of lunch with it ending by 2:00 PM. * It will be catered - (We will have food) * It is an all-you-can eat catered event. * Tickets are $10 a person * No tickets will be sold at the door * The menu has not been set yet. Each person who purchases a ticket prior to January 16th gets to help us select it by indicating their preference of two entrees. The choices are Brisket, Lasagna, Spaghetti with meat sauce, Sausage, Country Fried Steak, Grilled Chicken Breast, Chicken Spaghetti, Taco Bake or Chili. The attendees get to choose 2 and the most popular will be served. (So far Brisket is in the lead with Lasagna (second).
The following points went into the decision to have this event at Bayland. * The event had to be reasonably priced * It had to support people gathering, talking and not being cramped our crowded like in past events. * It had to support both the meal and the announcements/club and Council award ceremonies. * A daylight event was preferred so that members did not have a night-time commute. * The event should be family orientated.
