Canyon Lake - New Braunfels, Texas

 

Nestled among steep and wooded hills, 8,240-acre Canyon Lake is one of the deepest and most scenic lakes in Texas. With 80 miles of shoreline and an average depth of 43-feet, Canyon Lake features eight public parks with excellent outdoor recreation opportunities. Activities include camping, fishing, swimming, SCUBA diving, picnicking, wildlife viewing, boating, and other water sports. Many of the parks offer developed campsites for tents and trailers, as well as boat ramps, restrooms and picnic tables. Boat ramps, several marinas, yacht clubs and a ski club are also located on the lake.

The following Canyon Lake public parks, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, are located along the lakeshore:

  1. Canyon Park & Canyon Beach Swim Area

  2. Comal Park

  3. Crane's Mill Park

  4. Guadalupe Park

  5. Jacob's Creek Park

  6. North Park

  7. Overlook Park

  8. Potter's Creek Park

Location

Canyon Lake is located approximately 20 miles north of New Braunfels.

Take State Highway 46 and F.M. 2722 north, or F.M. 306 north of I-35. Directions to specific Canyon Lake area parks vary.

Hours

Hours vary. The lakeside parks are usually open from 7 AM to 10 PM for day use activities.

Fees

Day use fees vary from zero to $6 per vehicle depending on the park and season.
